Just like every other driver, motorcyclists are entitled to road and highway use, so long as they follow the laws applicable to motor vehicle use. Unfortunately, it is far to common that the drivers of cars and trucks fail to yield the right-of-way to motorcycle riders. Too often, the results can be catastrophic.
Motorcyclists do not have the same comfort and protection as other drivers when it comes to a crash. Motorcyclists are completely exposed to the impact, without the protection of a crash barrier or from being crushed. They are also not always required by law to wear a helmet. However, failure to wear a helmet could be admitted into evidence if it contributed to magnifying the impact of the victim’s injuries. When a motorcycle accident occurs, victims could suffer from severe injuries like broken bones traumatic brain injuries, amputations, internal bleeding, coma, and even death.
